Founded in 1898 and the oldest of its kind in the world, the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for teaching and research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, NGOs, private organisations and global institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, LSTM aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed/resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
The Tropical Clinical Trials Unit (tCTU) is an academic trials unit with staff expertise and infrastructure to plan, support and manage phase II and III randomised controlled trials and high-quality observational studies. The focus of the unit are studies of high burden diseases of national and international importance in low and middle-income countries. Most of these studies are conducted by LSTM and its partners, but we also work on external trials that fit within LSTM's vision and strategy.
We have created a new and exciting position for an experienced Clinical Trials Data Manager to support the trials and programmes delivered by the tCTU, that are mainly based in Sub-Saharan Africa. The successful candidate will be part of LSTM's tCTU based in Liverpool with envisaged overseas travel. You will work in close partnership with the tCTU Manager, Chief/Principal Investigators, Programme Managers, Data Managers, Medical Statisticians, and other relevant stakeholders. You will also be responsible for all aspects of the data management process including development of project documentation, data base set-up, data collection and data validation, data administration, archiving and data sharing.
Ideal candidates will have a degree in a related scientific subject, coupled with experience in the data management in a clinical trial environment. A sound appreciation of GCP and regulatory/ethical requirements is essential, as is a proven track record of working in a clinical or medical research environment. We need someone with the ability to thrive in a team environment as well as being able to deliver in a meticulous and accurate manner as an individual.
This really is a fantastic opportunity to join a world-renowned organisation and make a significant contribution to a key element of its business.
