Founded in 1898 and the oldest of its kind in the world, the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for teaching and research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, NGOs, private organisations and global institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, LSTM aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed/resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
The Technology Enhanced Learning Unit (TEL), part of the Education & Training department, is looking to appoint a talented individual who can manage the production of quality educational resources to support blended and online learning opportunities at LSTM, including the newly launched Global Health programme.
Key responsibilities of this post are: -
* Working with academic colleagues to design and develop high quality, media rich, educational resources
* Developing staff skills around effective design, development and delivery of learning resources
* Providing best practice advice on the effective use of educational technologies
We are looking for an individual with wide-ranging experience in the design and development of media rich resources using specialist authoring tools such as Articulate, Adobe Creative Suite, Brightspace and similar. An understanding of User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design principles and how these are applied to increase engagement and satisfaction, being desirable. Understanding of pedagogical principles and how these apply in an online learning environment is also desirable.
Qualified to degree level in a relevant subject area, or experience in the design and development of educational resources, you will have the desire to further develop expertise in the use of educational technologies such as Virtual Learning Environments and how they are applied in support Learning & Teaching (L&T). Supporting colleagues across LSTM in digital skills development you will also play an active role in the L&T community of practice.
The successful applicant will work alongside other members of the Education and Training department and the wider academic community, therefore, the ability to develop effective working relationships with colleagues and students from across different cultures is essential.
