Founded in 2005 with a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), IVCC is a Product Development Partnership (PDP) established as a not-for-profit company and registered United Kingdom charity. It aims to overcome the barriers to innovation in the development of new public health insecticides, and the development of new paradigms for more effective and efficient vector control. This is achieved through investing donor funds in research and development.
Mosquito vector control interventions are under threat from the emergence and spread of insecticide resistance, changes in disease transmission dynamics and limitations in the ways that insecticides are currently used. IVCC demonstrates that the PDP business model is effective in bringing together partners in the global chemical and consumer industries and academic research institutions for the development of new public health products. As a result, new products have already been developed and the robust pipeline of new product development programs is growing and diversifying.
Malaria eradication will require new mosquito control tools and solutions that combat the growing threat of insecticide resistance, and IVCC is developing an innovative portfolio of new products which are urgently needed.
IVCC is seeking a highly motivated person who will be responsible for designing and implementing study protocols for laboratory and field work and for data interpretation and report/paper writing. This exciting role will involve working with industry partners, African field sites, LSTM, LSHTM and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will join a team based in Liverpool and will work with IVCC's industrial and science partners based in various countries. It is essential that you have an a MSc in Entomology and Biological Sciences coupled with experience in the conduct of insecticide and vector control product efficacy testing (IRS or LLINs) with the ability to find innovative solutions to challenging situations and commitment to working as part of a team and independently. Written and oral skills in French are also advantageous in this role.
